Drone inspection closes that gap: high-resolution aerial imagery of roof coverings, chimneys, flashings, gutters and facades, captured safely and quickly, and fed directly into survey reports, defect investigations and insurance claims documentation.
Mills Building Consultancy operates as a CAA-registered operator (Operator ID and Flyer ID held) with commercial drone insurance in place. Flights are conducted within the CAA Open Category — which covers the substantial majority of residential inspection work.

Are you licensed to fly commercially?
Mills Building Consultancy holds a CAA Operator ID and Flyer ID and carries commercial drone insurance. Work is undertaken within the CAA Open Category, which authorises the majority of residential inspection flights. Where a site would require operation beyond Open Category limits, that is identified at feasibility stage.
Can you fly anywhere?
No — airspace restrictions, proximity to airports and Open Category separation rules all apply. Every job starts with a feasibility check, and you will be told plainly if a site cannot be flown compliantly.
Is drone inspection as good as getting on the roof?
For visual condition assessment it is often better — full coverage, high resolution, no risk. What it cannot do is touch, lift or test. The report is always clear about what aerial imagery can and cannot establish.
Can drone imagery be used in my insurance claim?
Yes — dated, high-resolution aerial documentation is strong evidence of storm damage and pre/post-repair condition, and integrates directly with the insurance claims consultancy service.
